Shillong, Aug 7: Thadlaskein Veterans trounced Rympei FC 6-1 today to reach the quarterfinals of the 7th Invitation Wahiajer Football Tournament 2023 at Wahiajer Stadium.
Despite the name, not all of Thadlaskein’s players were veterans. In fact, many are top current players in the state.
One of them, Damehun Syih, scored a hat-trick with goals in the 19th, 57th and 60th minutes. Niwan-o Gatphoh (49’), Deri Pyrtuh (66’) and Debinroy Nongspung (80’) provided the other goals for the team.
For Rympei, Dawandap Pura Biam Pathaw netted their lone goal in the 77th minute.
Syih was understandably named Player of the Match.
The next game will be played between Mawkasiang SC and Mawryngkneng Mission on 12th August at 3PM.
