Shillong, Sep 16: A late goal gave Iatyllilang SC a 1-0 win against Umrynjah SC in their Group A match of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2023 at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
The later game, contrastingly, had nine goals in it and was won by Madan SCC against Lamlynti SC of Sohiong 6-3.
Iatyllilang had to wait until the second minute of second half stoppage time in the 70-minute match before they found the winning goal via Shuwameiaki Kharumnuid, which handed Umrynjah their first defeat of the season.
There were two hat-tricks in the next match, one from each team.
Emanbha Marbaniang (3′, 26′, 44′) bagged one for Madan SCC and Pynche Khyllait (22′, 50′, 70’+2) for Lamlynti, though the latter were always chasing after Marbaniang’s opening goal and Khyllait’s treble was one of those rare ones that was in a losing cause.
A brace by Arbandelness Khongsngi (10′, 70′) and one goal by Phermanbha Lyngkhoi (58′) sealed the result for Madan SCC.
The win puts Madan SCC on 18 points from six games and the Group A leaders are now 6 points ahead of Umrynjah, though the latter have a game in hand. Iatyllilang jumped up to third, tied on 9 points with Mawlynrei SC but in front when considering head-to-head (Iatyllilang beat Mawlynrei 2-1 on 24th August). Lamlynti, meanwhile, are down in last place still yet to garner a point.
