Shillong, Oct 18: Lawmali Pyllun and Gorkha Association won their respective matches of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division after holding off late fightbacks by their opponents at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match of the day saw Nongumlong SC and Lumdiengjri SC locked in a 2-2 draw.
Lawmali were absolutely cruising at the end of the first half as they led 3-0 against Rynjah SC, with the goals provided by Lahnambhah Manner (25′), Nathaniel Kharbuli (37′) and Banganson Nongphlang (44′). However, Rynjah came back into the contest with two late goals through Banshailang Khriem (73′) and Hasken Roy Kharsati (78′) but they couldn’t find an equaliser.
The last game of the day saw Gorkha Association take a 2-0 lead against Lapalang SC with a brace by Gabriel Iacias (14′, 66′). However, Ryntih Marap pulled one back in the 80th minute but Gorkha Association were able to hold on to their reduced lead until the final whistle.
Earlier, both sides had the lead at some point in the game but, ultimately, Nongumlong and Lumdiengjri had to share points. Gabriel Blah (26′) gave Lumdiengjri the lead but this was cancelled out by Nongumlong’s Donbor N Shanpru (38′). In the second half, Nehlang Kharsahnoh (66′) handed Nongumlong the lead but it lasted barely three minutes as Borsing Langñuih (69′).
