Shillong, Dec 11: Laitkyrhong SC defeated Imson SC 6-2 in the highest-scoring match of the year in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2023 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Mebanrikupar Rynjah (22′, 29′, 35′) produced a hat-trick for the winners of the Group B match but not before Imson had taken the lead through Wanborlang Nongstanber (6′).
Laitkyrhong then added another goal through Synsharborlang Kurkalang (58′) before Imson scored a second via Micheal Kshiar (62′).
At that point the score read 4-2 in Laitkyrhong’s favour but they would go on to score twice more before the final whistle thanks to Samboklang Kurkalang (68′) and Secondlystar Mylliem (75′).
Later, in Group A, Sohiong SC pipped leaders Sohryngkham SC 2-1 in what was something of an upset. Arbunsing Warjri (7′, 31′) scored a brace for Sohiong and Pynshongdor Pyngrope (85′) one towards the end for Sohryngkham.
In the points table, Laitkyrhong now have 10 but are behind Nongrah SC on head-to-head count. Sohiong, meanwhile, moved up one place in Group A.
