Shillong, Jan 21: The Apex Council of the Meghalaya Cricket Association has thanked Lakhan Singh Nahar for his yeoman service to cricket in the state after the fast bowler announced that he will retire at the end of the season.
Lakhan played 17 matches for the senior Meghalaya team in BCCI tournaments, making his debut against Mizoram in September 2020. He took 22 wickets in all during this time.
Before Meghalaya became a full member of the BCCI, the state was involved in cricket amongst other affiliate and associate teams. Lakhan had also played for the Meghalaya U-19 sides in such tournaments in 2016 and was selected as part of a joint affiliate and associate team U-19 squad that year.
Lakhan had also represented the state team at the U-23 level as well and has been a big figure in club cricket in Shillong over the years, with his effusive personality and commitment to the team among the traits that people involved in the game will always remember him for.
