Meghalaya karatekas earn 22 medals at All India Championship

Shillong, Feb 12: Karatekas from the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association won 22 medals at the SEIKOKAI All India Karate Championship 2024, which was held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, earlier this month.

The state contingent were led by officials Donboklang Lyngdoh and Arjun Sewa.

The championship was held over two days on 3rd and 4th February, an AMKA press release informed today.

All told, Meghalaya won six gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals.

Emika Deimaia Myrthong won two medals – a gold in individual kata (cadet girls category) and a bronze in individual kumite -57kg (cadet girls).

The other gold medallists were Daphishisha Shadap (individual kumite -48kg, cadet girls), Durka Padit (individual kumite -68kg, women), Nowni Mayer F Ryngkhlem (individual kumite -55kg, sub-junior boys), Davyson Kharkongor (individual kumite -50kg, men) and Ialamphang Kharkongor (individual kumite -75kg, men).

The silver medal winners were Dayalangki Challam (individual kumite -57kg, cadet girls), Larisha Kurbah (individual kumite -59kg, junior girls), Saralin Rynghang (individual kumite -55kg, women), Eva Gracia Kharumnuid (individual kumite -45kg, women), Athokpam Ethan S Khawbung (individual kumite -55kg, sub-junior boys), Emmanuel B Diengdoh (individual kumite +70kg, cadet boys), Shanderson Nongrem (individual kumite -61kg, junior boys), Kmenlang Shabong (individual kumite -50kg, men) and Glikerius Buhphang (individual kata, men).

Besides Emika, the other bronze medallists were Aibiangmisaka Lyngdoh Mawphlang (individual kumite -52kg, cadet girls), Rebeka Nongspung (individual kumite -55kg, women), Phikerbha Kharbihkhiew (individual kumite -55kg, women), Eric B Ryngnga (individual kumite -40kg, sub-junior boys), Nathaniel Jasper Thongni (individual kumite -50kg, sub-junior boys) and Bhawanchwadame Lyngdoh Mawphlang (individual kumite +84kg, junior boys).
