Shillong, Feb 18: Shillong Lajong FC earn a 2-0 victory over NEROCA FC in their I-League 2023-24 encounter held today at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Lajong dominated the match from the first whistle itself but could not convert their chances in the first half.
Although this fixture was being played in Shillong, NEROCA were the hosts as their remaining home matches will be held in Shillong.
Coach Bobby Lyngdoh Nongbet made two changes to the starting line-up from the loss to Gokulam Kerala, bringing in Bishal Lama in goal in place of Neithovilie Chalieu and swapping in Hardy Cliff Nongbri for Ronaldkydon Lyngdoh Nonglait.
Lajong started better in the second half as Kynsaibor Lhuid scored his first I-League goals, with the first in the 52nd minute and the second in the 61st, curling the ball from outside the box into the back of the net.
With this result, SLFC collected all 3 points and climbed to fifth place in the standings with 22 points from 14 matches.
Lajong will now look forward to their next game, which is an away match against TRAU FC next Sunday in Kolkata.
