Shillong, Feb 29: Lumkynsai FC and Synroplang Laitkor (pictured) qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2nd Shortimai Knockout Football Tournament after they won their respective Round of 16 matches in Smit yesterday.
Lumkynsai were 3-1 victors over Sohtun Thynroit, with Ishaar Mukhim (9′, 48′) producing a brace and Balamphang Kyndeit (70′) one goal. Sohtun Thynroit’s goal was by Arbrington Nongbri in the 38th minute.
The second match of the day saw Synroplang and Laitkyrhong SC locked 0-0 in regulation time, prompting a penalty shootout, which the former won 5-4.
The quarterfinal round will begin on 2nd March and will see Synroplang back in action against Jaguar FC at 1PM.
