Meghalaya Boxing Association picks fighters for NE Games & Sub-Junior C’ship

Shillong, Mar 7: The Meghalaya Boxing Association has selected a total of 30 boxers to represent the state at two separate events this month, the 3rd North East Games in Nagaland and the 3rd Sub Junior National Championship in Noida.

Sixteen pugilists will be travelling to Nagaland for the 18th to 23rd March NEG (renamed from the North East Olympic Games), while 14 will be heading to Uttar Pradesh for the sub-junior nationals, which will run from 18th to 25th March. Selection for both competitions was carried out on 29th February.

Three officials will accompany the team of 10 male and six female boxers to Nagaland – Larry Kharpran (coach), Jimmy B Shadap (assistant coach) and Dondor Marwein (manager). The male fighters are Sanjeev Maskut (46-48kg), Khrawbok Marwein (48-51kg), Banjop Nongkhliaw (51-54kg), Sunil Limbu (54-57kg), Ram Lyngdoh (57-60kg), Badonkupar Synnah (60-63.5kg), Bhalang Shadap (63.5-67kg), Balnas Sangma (67-71kg), Malcolm Rani (71-75kg) and Bansaltesh R Sangma (75-80kg). The females are Veronica Sohshang (45-48kg), Shreena Thapa (48-50kg), Mellina Basaiawmoit (50-52kg), Banisha Makri (52-54kg), Reetika Sarki (54-57kg) and Rishisha Lyngdoh (57-60kg).

Five officials will accompany the team of seven male and seven female boxers to Uttar Pradesh – Pynskhem L Nonglait, Batiplang Nongkhlaw, Balamphang Nongkhlaw, Uranus Kharsati and referee-judge Daniel W Marbaniang. The boy fighters are Arki Manbha Ramen (35-37kg), Kyrshan Swer (37-40kg), Ethaniel Nongkhlaw (40-43kg), Karan Sunar (43-46kg), Banrapkupar Syiem (46-49kg), Lewanki Pakma (49-52kg) and Disrang Sangma (58-61kg). The girls are Naphisakmen Sohtun (31-33kg), Iasawanbiang Nongsiej (35-37kg), Badahun Syiemiong (37-40kg), Dolcy Diengdoh (40-43kg), Deiti Lunia Sun (43-46kg), Dahunshisha Kharkongor (46-48kg) and Priyanka Thapa (58-61kg).
