Shillong, Jul 18: New Challenger SC, Mawpdang SC and Madan S&CC all won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo here today.
New Challenger won 2-0 against Mawnianglah Youth SC, Mawpdang were 3-0 winners against Mawlyngngad SC and Madan S&CC defeated Umsohsun SC 2-0.
In Group B, New Challenger scored through Lambok Mylliem Umlong (18′) and Ginestar Nongneng (65′) in what was their last of four group fixtures.
Mawpdang, playing in the same group, have one game still to go and scored today via Patsha Syiem (8′, 66′) and Pyntiplang Syiem (27′).
These results take New Challenger to second place in the group with Mawpdang in third. A win in their last match will take Mawpdang to second and into the pre-quarterfinals but they will have to beat top side Umiew Maw U Sam (who have already confirmed first place) to get there.
Later, in Group C, Madan S&CC scored twice in the first half thanks to Adika (10′) and Phermanbha Lyngdoh (25′) to take them to the top of the table. Although not guaranteed first place, Madan S&CC have done enough to finish in the Top 2.
