Shillong, Jul 24: With the 60 group games done, the action in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 now moves to the knockout round, beginning with eight pre-quarterfinal matches, starting on 27th July.
The top two sides from each of the six groups plus the four best third-placed teams have qualified.
The six first-placed teams are Thynroit SC, Umiew Maw U Sam SC, Nongthymmai Raitnongkynrih SC, Laitkroh SC, Nongkolew SC and Mawphlang SC.
The six second-placed clubs are Madanrting SC, Mawpdang SC, Madan S&CC, Them Rangshken ACC, Laitumkhrah SC and Diengpasoh SC.
The best four third-placed teams are Umrynjah SC, New Challenger SC, Pynthorbah SC and Mawlynrei SC. The latter earned 6 points, the same as Lummawbah SC but with a better goal difference (+3 to +1).
Because of the way the pre-quarterfinal fixtures have been laid out, the first match will be between two Group A sides, Thynroit and Umrynjah. Group A was the closest with the top three clubs all on 8 points each. When Thynroit and Umrynjah met in the round robin stage they played out a goalless draw on 17th July.
