SSA 4th Division 2024: Umiew Maw U Sam blaze into QFs; Nongkolew pip Mawlynrei

Shillong, Jul 29: Eric Nongrum punched in a hat-trick as Umiew Maw U Sam SC trounced Pynthorbah SC 6-0 in the pre-quarterfinal round of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo here today.

Nongkolew SC then pipped Mawlynrei SC 1-0 in the second Round of 16 match of the day.

Umiew Maw U Sam were Group B winners while Pynthorbah were Group D’s third-placed team. Nongkolew, meanwhile, were the Group E toppers and Mawlynrei were third in Group C.

Eric scored his first goals of the season in the 22nd, 34th and 50th minutes while his team mates Eller C Allya (32′), Emanuel Rongrin (65′) and Banteishaphrang Lymba (70’+1) added one each for Umiew Maw U Sam’s comprehensive victory.

In the other game, Pynshngain Mujai scored the only goal of the game in the 32nd minute. This happened to be the 200th goal scored in this season of the Fourth Division.

Tomorrow, Nongthymmai Raitnongkynrih SC will face off against Them Rangshken ACC at 1:30PM. Nongthymmai topped Group C and were the only team out of the 30 participants that reached 10 points. Them Rangshken, meanwhile, finished second in Group D with 7 points.

The second match will be between Mawphlang SC and Madanrting SC at 4PM. Mawphlang finished first in Group F, while Madanrting were second in Group A. Incidentally, Madanrting actually acquired more points than Mawphlang (8 to 7).

Both matches will take pace at First Ground.
