Shillong, Sep 11: An inspection was carried out today on the route that the 3rd Sohra International Half Marathon will take on race day, 21st September.
The inspection was carried out by officials of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association and state government (Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, police, Public Works Department, medical staff, Tourism Department, etc) along the route from Laitsohpliah to Mawsmai. Work to get the race ready includes repairs to the road on which it will be run.
Present were MSOA Working President John F Kharshiing, MSOA General Secretary Finely L Pariat, DSYA senior officials PB War Nongbri and K Passah, among others.
The inspection was followed by a detailed review and discussion chaired by Sohra Sub-Divisional Officer Saloni Verma. It was decided to conduct another inspection next week.
All participants who have registered, either online or offline, for the 5km ‘Run for Fun’ should collect their t-shirts on 18th September from the JN Stadium between 12 noon to 5PM on producing registration acknowledgement and submission of a photocopy of their ID proof.
Those who cannot collect the t-shirt personally can authorise another person to do so with a written letter.
T-shirts and bib numbers for the 10km and 21km races will be issued on 19th and 20th September.
Buses for transportation will be placed at the State Central Library here from 4:30AM and the last bus will depart at 5AM.
