Shillong, Oct 15: Mawkhar SC defeated Malki SC 2-1 in a hard fought match of the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The earlier game, between Sohryngkham SC and Pohkseh SC, ended 0-0.
Malki had won their opening match while all the three other clubs involved today had lost theirs.
Vergelous Shylla struck the opening blow for Mawkhar with a sweet free-kick straight past the wall and goalkeeper but Banmanbha Mawiong (55′) equalised in the second half. A first shot was blocked by the Mawkhar goalie but he pushed it back into the field of play and Banmanbha had an easy job to tap it in.
Rickyshan Warjri then scored the winner in the 69th minute by flicking in a header.
Meanwhile, tomorrow will witness the first two matches of the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024.
