Shillong, Nov 12: Nongkseh SC thrashed Pohkseh SC 5-0 while Umphyrnai SC beat Mawkhar SC 2-1 in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Nongkseh scored just once in the first half, through Firstlyborn Khongsit (36′) but then added four more goals in the second half. These were scored by Firstlyborn (53′) again, Silvanius Diengan (62′), Samphrangshai Rani (64′) and Chesterpaul Lyngdoh (85′).
The win moves Nongkseh up to second place from fourth, tied on 11 points with Mawtawar SC but with a better goal difference (+8 to +3). However, Mawtawar have a game in hand.
Earlier, Umphyrnai, winless in their first five games of the season, picked up a victory with a brace by Primrose Lamat (11′, 85′). Vergelous Shylla (83′) provided Mawkhar’s only goal.
The win moved Umphyrnai up one position, from 10th and last to ninth.
Tomorrow will be dedicated to the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024. Sawmer SC will take on Nongthymmai SC at 1PM followed by Langsning FC versus Ryntih FC at 4:30PM.
