Shillong, Nov 15: Nongkseh SC and Mawtawar SC won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Nongkseh first defeated Mawkhar SC 3-1 before Mawtawar trounced Malki SC 4-1.
The results mean that Nongkseh have taken first place (though they have played an extra game) with Mawtawar second. Malki have fallen from first to third position.
Fedrick Lyngdoh (1′) scored the fastest goal of the season before Larry C Mawlong (12′) doubled the lead for Mawtawar. Thomos Dkhar (75′) and Rishan M Umlong (88′) added a goal each in the second half, while Malki’s lone goal was provided by Majumi Lando Tariang (85′).
Earlier, F Khongsit (21′) scored first for Nongkseh before Rickyshan Warjri (43′) equalised before half time. However, Chesterpaul Lyngdoh (64′) and Samphrangshai Rani (87′) made sure that Nongkseh carried away the full 3 points from this encounter.
There will be just one match tomorrow, between Sohryngkham SC and Umphyrnai SC at 2:30PM.
