Shillong, Nov 30: Shillong Lajong FC went down 2-0 to Dempo SC in their second match of the I-League 2024-25 season at First Ground, Polo, here today.
After a goalless first half, Pruthvesh Pednekar (53′) put the visitors ahead early in the second session, with Matija Babovic (90′) doubling the lead at the end of the game.
Both sides had drawn their opening matches SLFC in a 2-2 result with Churchill Brothers at home, while it was goalless for Dempo at Aizawl FC.
Lajong coach Jose Carlos Rodriguez Hevia made two changes to the starting lineup from the game against Churchill – he brought in Ronney Kharbudon and Figo Syndai in place of Aman Ahlawat and Marcos Rudwere Genar Silva.
A local face in the Dempo lineup could be seen in Knerktilang Buam, who made his second I-League start. Kner was part of the Dempo set-up that gained promotion to the I-League for this season as the club that won numerous national championships before relegation at the end of 2014-15 marked their return to the competition.
SLFC stay at home to take on Inter Kashi on 5th December at 7PM.
