Shillong, Jan 2: Diligent Guys won the final of the 8th Uplifter Open to All Tennis Ball Cricket League 2024 at Nongthymmai playground at the end of last month.
Diligent Guys won the toss in the final against Red Hawks and batted first. They scored 112/7 in the 10 allotted overs, with Vinod Rai striking 43 and Basant Chettri 32. Kishan Jaiswal and Sanjay Biswa of Red Hawks took two wickets each.
While chasing the target, Red Hawks lost wickets at regular intervals and were dismissed for 85, giving Diligent Guys victory by 27 runs. Kishan scored 15 and Markus Bhujel remained unbeaten on 29. Keshav was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed four wickets.
Diligent Guys took home the cash prize of Rs 15000 and a trophy. Red Hawks were awarded Rs 7,000 as runners-up. Vinod was named Player of the Final, while team mate Keshav bagged the award for Highest Wicket Taker with a total of 14 throughout the tournament. Vinod was also the Highest Scorer with 108 runs in all. Markus was named Player of the Tournament for his 67 runs with the bat and six wickets with the ball.
The eighth edition of this league was held after a gap of 18 years and the league organising committee thanked all the teams and members who made the tournament possible.
