Shillong, Dec 8: The boys of Don Bosco Soccer Academy won the final of the Josephine Kharkongor U-13 Memorial Football Tournament 2-1 here yesterday.
The title match was against Josephine Kharkongor FC and was held at the Rangdajied United FC Performance Centre in Pynthorbah.
The third-place playoff was held earlier and saw PFR Academy defeat Mawlai Grassroots Centre.
Dignitaries and guests included the Rangbah Shnong of Pynthor, Syrpai Marbaniang, football icon Eugeneson Lyngdoh, ex-state player Richard Nongneng, Freddy Kharpran and Khlain Pyrkhat Syiemlieh. The children and grandchildren of the late Josephine Kharkongor, including retired football great Augustine Kharkongor, were present on the occasion.
Individual awards were bestowed upon Denzil Kharngi of Rangdajied United (Best Goalkeeper), Habankara Blah of PFR (Top Scorer with 10 goals) and Bashemphang Diengdoh (Player of the Tournament).
