Shillong, Jan 24: East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi won the women’s and U-17 boys’ titles respectively at the football event of the 6th Meghalaya Games at the Kiang Nangbah Stadium in Jowai today.
EKH beat Ri-Bhoi 1-0 in the women’s final while Ri-Bhoi’s boys won by the same margin over West Khasi Hills.
West Jaintia Hills won the bronze medal in the boys’ football whereas South West Khasi Hills received the bronze medal in the women’s category. The women’s bronze medal match was a close match with a score of 1-0, however, the boys’ bronze medal match ended with WJH clearly dominating SWKH in a score of 7-2.
Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Shakliar K Warjri handed over the Best Player awards to Sanfida Nongrum and Defender Sylliang, representing EKH women and Ri-Bhoi boys respectively.
