5th Mawten T20 Cricket Tourney: Lawsohtun and Lion King roar to victory

Shillong, Feb 4: Lawsohtun SC and Lion King CC won their respective matches against Friendly Fortune and South Garo Hills District Cricket Association respectively in the pre-quarterfinal round of the 5th Mawten T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 today.

In the first match, Lawsohtun won the toss and elected to bat first, posting an impressive total of 168/8 in 20 overs. Kynsai Lyngkhoi scored 35 runs while Raphael Wanniang of Friendly Fortune got three wickets.

In reply, Friendly Fortune were restricted to 143/8 in 20 overs, with Nick Lyngdoh of Lawsohtun claiming figures of 3/23 in 4 overs. The best performing batter in the Friendly Fortune team was Mond Thabah, who played a scintillating knock of 48 from 28 balls, though his contribution was ultimately in vain as his team lost by 25 runs. Nick was adjudged Player of the Match for his overall performance.

Later, Lion King won by four wickets after SGHDCA were all out for 110 in 18.3 overs, a total that Lion King chased down for the loss of six wickets and in 17.4 overs.

In the first innings, Chengsrang S Sangma scored 40 while Benny Lyngdoh and Rishotskhem Lyngdoh claimed three and two wickets respectively. Rishotskhem then turned in a good performance with the bat, hitting 29 for Lion King, while Elciang Momin took three wickets for South Garo Hills. Rishotskhem was the Player of the Match.
