Shillong, Feb 9: Laitkynsew CC and Marbisu CC won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra yesterday.

Laitkynsew defeated Rangshken ACC by 48 runs in the first match, while Marbisu chased down victory to win by six wickets and with 2.3 overs to spare against Mawryngkneng CC in the second fixture of the day.

After winning the toss, Laitkynsew opted to bat first and posted 142/8 in 20 overs, with a top score of 37 from as many deliveries by Jesper Malngiang. Kisstar Janong bagged 2/18 in 4 overs.

In reply, Rangshken were bowled out for 94 in 18.1 overs and Larikupar Malngiang’s (pictured left) 3/31 in 4 overs was crucial to that and he was subsequently named Player of the Match. Kyrmenskhem Nongrum’s entertaining 32 from 18 balls was the highlight of Rangshken’s innings.

Later, Marbisu chose to bowl first after winning the toss and succeeded in bundling out their opponents under triple figures, with the Mawryngkneng scoreboard reading 99/10 in 18.2 overs. Moonlight War’s 18 from 15 was the top score, while Ramesh Rai claimed an impressive 4/13 in 4 overs.

Ramesh returned with the bat in the chase to hit 35 from 23 deliveries as Marbisu made 100/4 in 17.3 overs. Wankitlang Nongpluh took 2/14 in 4 overs for Mawryngkneng. Ramesh (pictured right) was named Player of the Match for his all-round effort.
