Shillong, Feb 11: Saitsohpen and Sohra Combines won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.

Saitsohpen defeated Rangshken ACC by 32 runs, while Sohra Combines beat Cricket Smit by 36 runs.

In the first match, Saitsohpen won the toss and batted first. They were led to a total of 171/7 in 20 overs on the back of Bhakupar Khongwir’s 48 from 41 balls. Hamostar (no last name give) claimed 4/22 in 4 overs for Rangshken.

In reply, Rangshken lost too many wickets and were restricted to 139/9 in 20 overs despite Sankiewnam Lyngdoh’s 62 from 49 deliveries. Holding Mewell Surong returned figures of 2/14 in 4 overs and Bhakupar (pictured left) was named Player of the Match.

Later, Cricket Smit won the toss and chose to field first and, in a low-scoring contest, Sohra Combines managed just 106/7 in 20 overs. James Marbaniang’s 25 from 15 was the top score, while Pynlong Khongshei took 2/18 in 4 overs.

Cricket Smit were unable to tackle even this modest target and were skittled for a mere 70 in 16 overs. Nikodomas Lyngwa’s 27 from 30 was thus in vain. Donkyrmenlang Nadon (pictured right) bagged 4/11 in 4 overs and was subsequently named Player of the Match.
