Shillong, Feb 11: Bijon Dey (pictured right) took 5/33 as United XI defeated Lumpyngad SCC by 23 runs in a low scoring Group B match of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here today.
United XI won the toss and chose to bat first but could only make 148 all out in 39.3 overs. Jason J Lamare top-scored with 32 from 64 deliveries. Nitin Gupta (4/35 in 9 overs) and Vishal Kumar Balmiki (3/27 in 9) were the lead bowlers for Lumpyngad.
Bijon, the eventual Player of the Match, then bowled brilliantly to remove five batters in the 8.4 overs he bowled. Pace bowler Sudhir Sahani also bagged 2/19 in 7 overs. Lumpyngad were bundled out for 125 in 33.4 overs, with Abhay Kumar Raj top-scoring with 41 from 63 balls.
The next match will take place on Friday between Donkin SCC and Langsning CC in Group A from 8:30AM.
