Shillong, Feb 14: Friends United and Hurdles Mawsynram won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra yesterday.
Friends United first defeated Mawphlang CC by six wickets before Hurdles took down Mawmluh CC by 88 runs.
Mawphlang won the toss and chose to bat first but were limited to only around 5 runs an over for a total of 102/9 in 20 overs. Wandondor Jyrwa top-scored with 32 from 33 deliveries while Ernestin Swer took 2/12 in 4 overs.
In reply, Friends United needed just 11.2 overs to chase down the modest target and lost four wickets in the process. Nangkiewdor Moore Don hit 42 from 30 balls but Ernestin (pictured left) was named Player of the Match. Banbhalang Nongsiej claimed 3/20 in 4 overs for Mawphlang.
Later, Hurdles won the toss and batted first, amassing 197/9 in 20 overs, with Jonathan Pariong’s 39 from 20 balls being a highlight. Pynbhalang Lyngdoh (3/37 in 4 overs) bagged three wickets but was expensive, like pretty much all the bowlers were.
Mawmluh were unable to keep up with the required run rate and finished on 109/8 in their 20 overs. Aiban Tyngshain Rajee top-scored with 40 from 58 balls, while Namewanki Pakyntein (pictured right) bowled beautifully for figures of 3/15 in 4 overs and he was named Player of the Match.
