Shillong, Feb 16: Cricket Lovers and Cricket Smit won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra yesterday.
The two teams both won by batting first, with Cricket Lovers defeating Rangshken ACC by 32 runs, while Cricket Smit walloped Royal Rangers by 147 runs.
On winning the toss, Cricket Lovers chose to bat first and went at just under 8.50 runs an over for a commanding total of 169/9 in 20 overs. Rohit Yadav’s 30 from 35 balls was the top score, while Arnold Kharpuri claimed 3/30 in 4 overs with the ball.
In reply, Rangshken were restricted to 137/8 in 20 overs, with Banshailang Kharphuli’s 28 from 26 being the top score. Damechwa Khongsngi bagged 2/21 in 3 overs. Mewankitbok M Kharpuri (pictured left) was the Player of the Match.
Later, Cricket Smit were made to bat first after Royal Rangers won the toss and they went about the first innings with a flourish, hitting 266/4 in 20 overs. Raymond Thabah spurred them on with 82 from 44 balls as the Smit team scored at more than 13 an over. Kevinstar Khongwar returned the best figures of 2/39 in 4 overs.
Lamphang Khongsngi then made 36 from 42 but Royal Rangers couldn’t get close to the target and finished on 119/7 in 20 overs. Pynlong Khongshei took 3/21 in 4 overs and the Player of the Match was Shankupar Kharbangar (pictured right).
