Shillong, Feb 19: Royal Rangers and Laitkynsew CC won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.

Royal Rangers first comfortably defeated Mawryngkneng by seven wickets before Laitkynsew beat Thynroid CC by 75 runs. These were the last two round robin matches and the quarterfinals will follow starting on Saturday.

Royal Rangers won the toss and chose to field first, bowling Mawryngkneng out for a sub-par 101 in 14.4 overs. Ruston Lamare’s 19 from 9 deliveries was the top score, while Balabianglang Buhphang bagged 4/31 in 4 overs.

Royal Rangers then chased down the target in 14 overs for the loss of three wickets. Lamphang Khongsni top-scored with 23 from 25 balls, while Moonlight War took 2/24 in 4 overs in a losing cause. Balabianglang (pictured left) was named Player of the Match.

Later, Laitkynsew won the toss and batted first, posting 170/5 in 20 overs. Mebanrikupar Malngiang shone brightest with 59 from 45 balls, while Banrilang Kharbamon returned figures of 2/27 in 4 overs.

In reply, Thynroid were all out for just 95 in 18.1 overs. Mebanrikupar (pictured right) claimed 3/11 in 4 overs and was named Player of the Match. Bankit Nongtraw’s 25 from 19 was the top score for Thynroid.

Two quarterfinals will take place on Saturday. In the first, at 9AM, Cricket Lovers will take on Cricket Smit and this will be followed at 12:30PM by Sohra Combines versus Laitkynsew.

Then, on 25th February, the third and fourth quarterfinals will be played. Pomshutia CC will take on Laitjem CC from 9AM followed by Friends United versus Hurdles CC of Mawsynram from 12:30PM.
