Shillong, Mar 2: Cricket Lovers won the final of the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, by 14 runs against Sohra Combined in Sohra yesterday.
Cricket Lovers won the toss and batted first. Rohit Yadav led the way with a fine 67 from 56 deliveries as Cricket Lovers posted 139/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Kevin Diengdoh impressed with the ball, taking 3/23 in 4 overs.
In the chase, Sohra Combined made a good attempt but ultimately fell short, finishing on 125/5 in 20 overs. Pherson Diengdoh top-scored with 35 from 41, while Mehraf Hussain Sarkar claimed 2/37 in 4 overs.
Rohit was named Player of the Final, while his team mate Shavian Blah, who struck two centuries and a couple of fifties over the course of the tournament, was named Player of the Tournament.
The champions received a cheque of Rs 40,000 and the runners-up Rs 20,000. Peter M Kharsawian, Apex Council Member of the Meghalaya Cricket Association, was present on the occasion of the final.
