Shillong, Mar 4: Sputnik Spartan CC destroyed Donkin SCC by 156 runs in their Group A match of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25 here yesterday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Sputnik Spartan amassed 238/9 in 45 overs and then bowled out the opposition for just 82 in 24.1 overs.
Tarjinder Singh struck 68 from 64 balls for Sputnik Spartan, while Donkin’s Rohit Rai (3/68 in 9 overs) returned the best figures, even if he was a little expensive.
In reply, Donkin batted only slightly more than half the number of overs they had at their disposal and no batter even managed to get into the 20s. In an all-round effort, Tarjinder (pictured right) claimed 3/18 in 6 overs with the ball and was named Player of the Match. Lakhan Singh also took 2/13 in 6 overs.
Today’s match will be between United XI and Sputnik CC in Group B.
