Shillong, Mar 17: NFU defeated Lumpyngad by five wickets in their Group B match of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25 here yesterday.
Lumpyngad won the toss and chose to bat first but they were dismissed for 136 in 30.3 overs. Rajib Ray’s 33 from 23 balls was the top score, while Purajit Mandal led the way with the ball, claiming 5/43 in 8.3 overs, while Akash took 4/29 in 9.
NFU then required only 32 overs to chase down the target, which they did for the loss of five wickets. Akash top-scored with 44 from 39 balls, while Purajit (pictured left) hit 22 from 51 and was named Player of the Match for his all-round effort. Vishal Balmiki managed 2/24 in 9 overs for Lumpyngad.
The next match will take place on Tuesday between Rangkynsai CC and Raj Bhavan in Group B.
