Shillong, Jun 30: Laitumkhrah and Pommura won by big margins in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 today, while Lumpyngngad secured a place in the second round with a draw against Mawlynrei.

At the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, imperious Laitumkhrah won their third game in a row, 4-0 over bottom side Krang, in Group E, while Lumpyngngad secured a 1-1 draw against Mawlynrei (who had already qualified for the next round) in Group F. Pommura, meanwhile, defeated Umsohsun 3-0 in Group D.

Mawlynrei were looking for a third consecutive win and they almost had it but for Ignasius N Sangma’s (80’+3) equaliser for Lumpyngngad in the dying seconds. Mawlynrei had taken an early lead through Ferdinand Pyngrope (12′), who has now scored in three straight matches. The draw means that Lumpyngngad, now with 4 points, have also qualified for the second round with a match still to play; Group F is the smallest of the six with just four teams. Mawlynrei stay on top with 7 points.

After winning their first two games with ease, Laitumkhrah looked comfortable but still needed to get the job done against Krang. Dabetskhem Rympei (24′, 37′) scored twice in the first half before team mates Emerald Sohiong (55′) and Banroi Kharkongor (70′) added a goal each in the second. Laitumkhrah now have 9 points from three games, while Krang have yet to get off the mark. There is still a slim possibility that Laitumkhrah won’t progress to the next round but a draw against Iateilang of Lamlyer next week would seal their place.

In Group D, Pommura went to the top of the provisional standings with their victory. Willson Nongbri (11′, 80’+4) and Kitbok Thabah (43′) were the scorers. Pommura now have 7 points from three outings, while Umsohsun are at the bottom with 1 point from three. Mawphlang (6 points from two) look likely to progress as they face Umsohsun next and Pommura could drop from first to third if Laitlulong beat winless Mawpdang and Mawphlang defeat Pommura. We’ll have to wait and see what happens!

There will be just one match tomorrow as the SSA Stadium will also be used as a venue over the next few days for the State-Level Subroto Cup.
