Shillong, Jul 20: Mawkasiang extended their winning streak in the U-20 Fourth Division 2025 to six games by beating Mawnianglah 3-1 in Pool 3 of the second round yesterday and thereby qualified for the quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association league.

The other match of the day at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, witnessed Mawphlang maintain their hopes of progressing to the quarters by winning 1-0 over Lumpyngngad in Pool 4.

Fedrick Wankhar headed in a rebound following a free-kick in the 80th minute to provoke joyous scenes at the rain-drenched ground. Mawphlang now have 3 points from two games. Lumpyngngad still have to play Laitkroh (who had beaten Mawphlang 3-2 on 15th July), so all three sides could end up with 3 points.

Earlier, Mawkasiang secured their progression with goals from Kyrmenskhem Mukhim (7′), Hame-dao Nongtdu (19′) and Lamshai Jana (55′). Mawnianglah’s lone goal was by Elnathan Teinam Lyngdoh (21′).

Mawkasiang now have 6 points in Pool 3, while Mawnianglah and Lummawbah both have 0. The meeting between these two sides on 23rd July will decide which of them goes through to the last-eight.
