Shillong, Jul 22: Lamlynti of Madanlyngkhi came from a goal down to beat Laitlyngkot 2-1 in Group D of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Both sides lost their opening matches and it was Laitlyngkot that took the lead early in the second half when hesitation between a Lamlynti defender and goalkeeper allowed Mebanpyntngen Shabong (48′) to pinch the ball and score.
Lamlynti captain Pyrkhatjanai Kharkongor levelled the match with an inch-perfect free-kick in the 70th minute that beat the diving goalie Questerfield Khongsni low to his right.
Twelve minutes later, Tishu Khongsit (82′) ran up the left to receive a through ball and flicked it ever so nonchalantly past the advancing Questerfield.
This was the first time that any team has come from behind to win in this year’s Third Division. There are now three teams on 3 points each in Group D – Mawkriah West, Umiew Maw U Sam and Lamlynti, though the first two have only played one match so far.
