Shillong, Jul 26: Iatyllilang guaranteed themselves a place in the quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 following a 2-2 draw with Madan SCC in Group C at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match, in Group D, was a 1-1 draw between Laitlyngkot and Umiew Maw U Sam.
The second result meant that Laitlyngkot will be relegated to next year’s U-20 Fourth Division; this was their last game of the season and they have only garnered 1 point. Today Seiborlang Kharmalki (35′) struck first for Umiew Maw U Sam before Ribanbha Majaw (63′) equalised for Laitlyngkot.
Umiew Maw U Sam are in second place with 4 points with a game to go against leaders Mawkriah West (6). Lamlynti, who have played out their matches, ended with 3 points.
Earlier, Madan SCC twice held the lead only to let it go. Adrian M Sawian (13′) and Thanggoulun Vaiphei (76′) produced Madan SCC’s goals, while Donborlang Mukhim (33′) and Shwameiaki Kharumnuid (84′) scored for Iatyllilang.
Iatyllilang finished the group stage with 7 points from three outings. They are currently in top spot but could lose it if Madan SCC (4 points from two games) win their last fixture. Nevertheless, Iatyllilang are sure of a place in the Top 2, which will see them into the quarterfinals.
Kharang are currently third with 3 points from two games, while Gorkha Association, who have played all their matches, are at the bottom of Group C with 0 points and will be relegated.
