Sub-Junior Girls’ NFC 2025: Meghalaya drawn with former champs Jharkhand, Mizoram

Shillong, Aug 7: Meghalaya have been drawn against one of the most consistent states in girls’ football – Jharkhand – in the upcoming Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier 1).

Jharkhand were champions in two of the last three editions and were runners-up last year to Manipur.

Meghalaya, Jharkhand, 2014-15 winners Mizoram and Gujarat form Group A.

Defending champions Manipur are with Delhi, Tamil Nadu and hosts Assam in Group B, while Group C comprises West Bengal, Maharashtra, Odisha and Haryana. Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are in Group D.

All the matches will be played in Assam’s Jorhat from 20th to 30th August, the All India Football Federation said on social media.

Meghalaya were semifinalists in 2023 and were awarded joint bronze medals. However, they finished bottom of their group in 2024.

The state squad has yet to be announced by the Meghalaya Football Association.
