Women’s National Footy C’ship 2025-26: Meghalaya lose last match to Railways

Shillong, Sep 10: Meghalaya finished their run in the Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2025-26 with a 5-1 loss to Railways in Nadia, West Bengal, today morning.

Meghalaya had also lost their first match in Group D to Bengal and the second to Sikkim.

Railways comprise several top national players, like Anju Tamang and Yumnam Kamala Devi, both of whom have represented the national team.

Today Ribahunshisha Kharshiing (11′) put Meghalaya into the lead early in the proceedings but Tamang (21′) equalised 10 minutes later.

The score remained 1-1 until half time but the second 45 minutes saw Railways pump in four goals by Devi (52′, 77′), Mamta (57′) and Tamang again (62′).

The Kitbor Kharkongor-coached Meghalaya thus finished at the bottom of the group with 0 points. Although hard to take, it’s just great to see Meghalaya take part this year after skipping the tournament in 2024. The experience should help the players, several of whom will probably by involved in the inaugural Meghalaya State Women’s League, which will start in 10 days’ time.

Meghalaya squad today:
Banrisha Wahlang (GK), Ibashembha Khongsit (sub Badarisha Kharumnuid 40′), Saralin Warlarpih (sub Nisilia Majaw 40′), Darishisha Kharlyngdoh, Judith Kharmuti (sub Baiahunshisha L Nongbri 65′), Ibadarihun Nongsiej, Bahunlang Synrem, Ibakordor Wahlang (sub Catherine Kharkongor HT), Eiladki Ksoo, Iaphisha Marbaniang (sub Makrisha Songthiang HT, Ribahunshisha Kharshiing
