Shillong, Sep 13: Tynring and Lumshyiap won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here yesterday and these were important results for each team, though for different reasons.

Tynring, by beating Sohiong 2-1 in Group C, put themselves in prime contention for a place in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Lumshyiap went from zeroes to heroes in Group A by coming from a goal behind to defeat Jongksha, thereby avoiding the relegation group.
Jongksha scored via Pyniaidlang Songthiang (10′) and held the lead until early in the second half when Lumshyiap mounted their comeback. Kitbok Maskut (48′, 72′) scored a brace, while Fairborn Lyngdoh (57′) and Donborlang Kharnaior (60′) added one each.
Lumshyiap, Jongksha and Umpling all have 3 points each. Head-to-head results cannot separate them as Jongksha had beaten Umpling and Umpling, in turn, had defeated Lumshyiap. According to SSA rules, overall goal difference is then considered and here Lumshyiap come out on top with -4, Jongksha have -5 and Umpling -6.
The lowest-ranked team from each of the three groups will play in a mini league of the bottom three sides and the two with the worst results will be relegated to the Third Division in 2026.
Earlier, Tynring scored through Jovinal Mylliempdah (2′) and Damonlang Sylliang (22′) before Banshanlang Janong (34′) pulled one back for Sohiong but only after a team mate of his had a penalty denied by the Tynring goalkeeper.
Tynring are tied with Sohryngkham on 8 points. Their head-to-head meeting ended goalless, so Sohryngkham are in front in the standings based on goal difference (+3 to +1).
