Shillong, Sep 16: Mylliem Lum pipped Sohryngkham 1-0 in the first quarterfinal of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
After the majority of the match was deadlocked, Shaitborlang Kharkrang found the winning goal in the 84th minute.
Mylliem Lum were the top team in Group A and this is now their fifth win in a row this season. Sohryngkham had qualified for the quarterfinals as the runners-up of Group C.
Meanwhile, in the relegation group (where the lowest-ranked team from each group battle to avoid the drop), Umphyrnai defeated Umpling 2-1. Badon Rapsang (12′, 45’+1) struck twice for the winners, while Elson Suting (27′) provided Umpling’s goal. Two out of the three teams (the other being Umphrup), after a single leg of round robin matches, will be relegated to next year’s Third Division.
