SSA 1st Div 2025: Chesterpaul lights up SSA Stadium with hat-trick as Nongkseh beat Pohkseh

Shillong, Oct 4: Chesterpaul Lyngdoh (pictured) scored a hat-trick as Nongkseh completely demolished Pohkseh in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.

Nongkseh won 6-0 with Chesterpaul (48’P, 60′, 84′) registering a treble, Hardy Cliff Nongbri (75′, 90’+1) a brace and Shano Tariang (24′) one goal.

Anticipation was high, with plenty of Nongkseh fans and neutrals keen to see the club’s ‘dream team’ of players.

Several of them have played in the I-League before, like all three of today’s scorers, and Nongkseh have trawled other top names from local teams to create a formidable fighting unit.

Last year Nongkseh were keen on gaining promotion to the Shillong Premier League and based a team around Chesterpaul. However, although they had a good start, momentum waned towards the end of the season and Nongkseh finished only fourth in the First Division 2024.

This year it seems like the club administrators are taking no chances and have signed up multiple match-winning players; be in no doubt, this is a squad capable of winning not just the First Division but is even of SPL and Meghalaya State League quality.

Pohkseh didn’t really stand a chance, though they gave a pretty good account of themselves in the first half at least. Nongkseh only broke the defence once in the first 45 minutes, with Shano flicking a header from a corner.

Chester was pulled down in the box early in the second half and he stepped up to convert the penalty himself. He then scored from an amazing bicycle kick that he pulled out of a hat and sealed his treble with a left-footer while running up the left flank.

Hardy scored his goals first from a direct free-kick just outside the Pohkseh box and then from a distance after spotting an open goal in stoppage time.
