Klingson Marak scores hat-trick against Uzbekistan in blind football

Shillong, Oct 6: Meghalaya’s blind football star Klingson Marak (pictured fourth from right in first row) scored a hat-trick as India defeated Uzbekistan 6-2 in the second leg of the 2025 IBSA Asia-Oceania Men’s Blind Football Division 2.

India drew 2-2 with Uzbekistan on 3rd October in Kochi, with Klingson scoring both of India’s goals. The next day India defeated the visitors 6-2. Klingson and Sovendra Singh netted a hat-trick each for India.

Klingson, an U Kiang Nangbah awardee, was the Player of the Tournament.

He was also part of the Indian team that took part in the earlier 2025 IBSA Men’s Blind Football Nations Cup, which was also held in Kochi from 25th September to 1st October. India finished fourth in this tournament out of six teams, the others being England (champions), Iran (runners-up), Italy (third place), Poland and South Korea (fifth and sixth).

Kochi is now hosting the IBSA Women’s Blind Football World Championship 2025 from 5th to 11th October.
