Shillong, Nov 14: Nongkrem managed a 2-1 victory against Nongthymmai in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here yesterday.
The match had been scheduled for 8th October but was abandoned after 27 minutes due to heavy rain that caused waterlogging of the pitch.
The score was 0-0 at the time the game was interrupted. More than a month later, the remaining 63 minutes were played yesterday. Nongthymmai were a little aggrieved at being told they had to field the same players as on the original match day even after such a long gap when player availability through injury or otherwise could have become a factor.
Nongkrem, who needed victory, scored twice through Balajied Lyngwa (69′) and Vinson C Kharsyntiew (90′). Wanshwanaki Suphai (85′) was Nongthymmai’s provider.
Victory puts Nongkrem safe from relegation. Meanwhile, Nongthymmai would have taken third place from Mawtawar had they won but can still do it when they play their last match (which will be against Mawtawar) on 18th November.
Monday’s fixtures:
Nongrah vs Ryntih, 1:15PM
Pohkseh vs Nongkrem, 4:15PM
