Shillong, Nov 23: Sutnga SSCC scraped through to the final of the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s Super Division 2025 after winning the first playoff against Diengshynrum SC 6-5 on penalties in Khliehriat on Saturday.
The match between Sutnga and Diengshynrum, first and second in the group stage, saw each side score twice in regulation time.
Three goals came in quick succession in the first half hour, with Ker Syrti (26′) and Niponghi Sumer (27′) giving Sutnga a two-goal lead before Rumi Lyngdoh (30′) reduced the deficit for Diengshynrum.
Manfull Rupsi (83′) then equalised late in the day for Diengshynrum, which led to the match going to extra time before a tiebreaker, where Sutnga held on for the win.
Niponghi (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.
Sutnga go straight to the final but Diengshynrum will have a second chance to reach the title match. They will meet the winner of the second playoff, the Eliminator, between Shilliang Umshong SC and Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC. The EJHDFA has yet to inform the date of that match.
