Shillong, Dec 7: Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC’s produced an ultimate comeback to win the final of the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s Super Division 2025 title against Sutnga SSCC 3-1 on penalties in Khliehriat yesterday.
R Shkenshynriah finished the league stage in fourth place (Sutnga were first) and had to come through the eliminator and second qualifier before getting a shot at the trophy against Sutnga.
R Shkenshynriah scored first yesterday through a 43rd minute own goal but Sutnga equalised at the death through Coming Dkhar (90’+3) and a tiebreaker was eventually needed to separate the two sides.
As champions, R Shkenshynriah were awarded Rs 1.2 lakh, while Sutnga received Rs 80,000. Other awards given out at the prize distribution ceremony – Best Team (Shilliang Umshong SC), Goalkeeper of the Tournament (Yoomeki Dkhar of Shilliang Umshong), Player of the Final (Skillfull Tariang of R Shkenshynriah) and Player of the Tournament (Amorous Lyngdoh of Sutnga). Ribiang Dkhar of R Shkenshynriah was the Top Scorer with 9 goals.
Meanwhile, the EJHDFA also received Rs 50,000 from the Jowai Cooperative Urban Bank as part of commemorations of the bank’s golden jubilee.
