Shillong, Dec 10: Laitkor edged Mawlai Impact 1-0 in the second semifinal of the 4th Shortimai Knockout Football Tournament in Smit today.
The match was a thrilling one and both sides played at a high level and, ultimately, it was a penalty awarded to Laitkor for a foul in the Mawlai Impact box that yielded the only goal of the game.
Risuklang Malngiang stepped up to convert the spot kick in the 28th minute. Mawlai Impact tried to get the equaliser but their efforts were foiled.
Laitkor will face Massar 8 Bros FC in the final on 17th January. Massar 8 Bros won the first semifinal on Thursday.
Risuklang (pictured left) was subsequently named Player of the Match today. He received his award from Leonard Arun Mawrie, the President of Laitkor SC.
