SSA Women’s League 2025: Group stage concludes with Lawei sealing last available QF spot

Shillong, Jan 14: Lawei bagged the last available spot in the quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s Football League 2025 today after they beat Lawsohtun 4-1 in Group B at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here.

With the best two third-placed teams qualifying for the knockouts, Lawei secured their berth as the highest-ranked third-placed team. Umrynjah from Group A are the other to have made it through.

Today Lavinia Lyngkhoi (11′, 22′) scored a brace for Lawei followed by goals for Delfinia Syiem (32′) and Darisha Ladong (65′). Lawsohtun got a goal through Ibasuklin Syiemlieh (34′).

Later, Lumparing held on to first place in Group B after drawing 1-1 with Pay For Right. Iaphisha Marbaniang (32′) gave Lumparing the lead in the first half and it took right until the last moment for PFR to equalise, through Phibanda M Nongrum (70’+2).

The quarterfinals will take place on 16th and 17th January.

According to the format shared by the SSA prior to the start of the tournament, Laitkor will face Umrynjah at 11AM on the first day, with Rangdajied United taking on Lawei at 1:30PM the same day.

Then, on the second day, Lumparing will face Nongthymmai at 11AM, followed by PFR versus New Challenger at 1:30PM.

Matches will be of 90 minutes’ duration from the quarterfinals onwards. In case of a tie after 90 minutes the game will be decided by penalties directly.
