SSA Women’s League 2025: Lumparing & PFR Academy complete semifinal line-up

Shillong, Jan 17: Lumparing and Pay For Right Academy rounded out the semifinal line-up of the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s Football League 2025 by winning their respective last-eight matches at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here yesterday.

Lumparing eased into the semis on the back of a 5-0 win against Nongthymmai but PFR snuck home a winner only in the stoppage time to get past New Challenger 1-0.

Laitkor and Rangdajied United had made it through their quarterfinals on Friday.

There were four goals for Lumparing in the first half, thanks to Savinity Jyndiang (12′), Barisha Wahlang (25′), Iaphisha Marbaniang (39′) and Catherine Kharkongor (45’+4). Catherine (54′) scored the fifth goal early in the second half to put the game beyond doubt.

Later, just when it looked like the game would be taken to penalties, Phibanda Mary Nongrum (90’+2) found the back of the net for PFR to end New Challenger’s hopes. This was the only goal that the team from Group C conceded in the tournament this year.

The semifinals will both be held on 20th January. In the first, at 11AM, Laitkor will take on PFR in a replay of 2024’s final. Then, at 2PM, Rangdajied will face Lumparing.

Like in the quarterfinals, the semifinal matches will be of 90 minutes’ duration. However, now, in case of a tie at the end of 90 minutes, the game will first go to 15 minutes of extra time and, if there is still a tie at the end of that, penalties will then be utilised.
