Shillong, Mar 6: Mawphlang CC and Laitkynsew Mission Club won by handsome margins in the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 at Saitsohpen, Sohra, today.
Chasing, Mawphlang beat Seng Samla Saitsohpen by seven wickets in Group D. Then, in Group C, Laitkynsew defended their total to win by 69 runs against Superkings CC of Sohiong.
Saitsohpen won the toss in the first match and batted first, though they could only make 79 before being bowled out in 17.1 overs. The most destructive bowler was Janai Dohtdong, who took 5/18 in 4 overs.
Mawphlang then breezed to victory in just 9.4 overs, though they did lose three wickets along the way. Kyrshanglang Lyngdoh top-scored with 22 from 15 balls and Janai was named Player of the Match for his bowling efforts.
Later, Laitkynsew also batted first after winning the toss and they batted ferociously to be out for 155 in 13 overs. Jeff Malngiang’s 38 from 18 deliveries was the high score and Winbestar Syiemiong’s 4/30 in 4 overs the best bowling figures.
In reply, Superkings were skittled for 86 in 17 overs, with Bankerlang Syiemiong’s 22 from 24 being the top score. Mebanrikupar Malngiang claimed 4/21 in 4 overs and he was named Player of the Match.
