EKHCA 5th District League T20 Tourney: Mawmluh win crunch game with 2 balls to spare

Shillong, Mar 7: Mawmluh CC beat Royal Rangers CC by five wickets but with just two balls remaining in a nail-biting Group D match of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 at Saitsohpen, Sohra, today.

Cricket Smit defeated Laitjem CC by a more comfortable 39 runs in Group A.

Royal Rangers won the toss and batted first, putting up a competitive score of 168/9 in 20 overs. Lamphang Khongsni posted 42 from 49 balls, while Constantine Kharwanlang bagged 3/27 in 4 overs.

Pynsuklang Rajee (80 from 63 deliveries) was the standout with the bat in the chase but Mawmluh could only reach the target in the very last over and with just two balls to spare; in the end they made 170/5 in 19.4 overs. Manshuwa (no surname provided) took 2/37 in 4 overs. Pynsuklang was adjudged Player of the Match.

Later, Cricket Smit made 155/5 in their 20 overs, led by Elbrenroy Mawthoh’s 68 from 50 balls.

Ganeshstar Syiem did his part with 58 from 37 in the chase but Laitjem were all out for 116 in 17.5 overs. Elbrenroy claimed 2/15 in 4 overs and he was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
