Classy performance by Rangkynsai wins them Shillong Cricket Super Div 2025-26 title

Shillong, Mar 8: Rangkynsai SC dominated the final of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2026, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, in Polo yesterday and beat Royal CC by a comfortable six-wicket margin to lift the trophy.

Royal won the toss and batted first but a superb (if expensive) bowling spell from left-arm orthodox spinner Aryan Borah (5/58 in 8 overs) saw them crash to 172 all out in 25.2 overs. Rajesh Tati made 63 from 49 balls for Royal CC, while Adarh Joshi also contributed with 2/17 in 3 overs for Rangkynsai.

Although Royal were able to remove four batters in all – courtesy Raj Biswa (2/29 in 9 overs) and Reshabh Dipak (2/35 in 9) – Heiyoomiki Ryngkhlem (69 from 87 deliveries) and Joydeepan Deb (51 from 82) ensured that there was to be no way back for their opponents and Rangkynsai claimed the victory in 38.2 overs.

Rangkynsai received a cheque of Rs 50,000 as prize money, while Royal took home Rs 30,000.

Individual awards were also distributed at the closing ceremony. Aryan was named Player of the Final, his team mate Ajay Duhan the Player of the Tournament, Raj the Best Bowler and Nongmensong CC’s Arpit Bhatewara the Best Wicketkeeper.

The chief guest on the occasion was Meghalaya Cricket Association President James PK Sangma. MCA Vice-President Rajiv Bareh, current and former office bearers of the MCA and SCA were also present.

The SCA also used the opportunity to felicitate its players who have shone in BCCI tournaments this year – Kishan Lyngdoh, Akash K Choudhary and Debasmita Dutta – as well as its players and officials who were part of the champion U-23 men’s team in the State A Trophy plate group 2025-26, former senior officials of the association, match officials and ground staff.

The new SCA website was launched by Sangma, who also unveiled the trophy of the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, which will begin on Monday.
