Shillong, Mar 9: Lawsohtun defeated Cluster CC by 20 runs in Group C on the opening day of the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament here today.
The second match, between Sporting CC and Meghalaya Police in Group A, was abandoned due to rain.
In the morning, Lawsohtun won the toss and chose to bat first. They managed 139 all out in 20 overs, with Klos Lyngdoh (67 from 45 balls) providing nearly half the runs. Pankaj Chanda took 2/18 in 4 overs for the fielding side.
Cluster were in the hunt right until the end but a few too many wickets meant that they fell short – all out for 119 in 18.4 overs. Md Sameer top-scored with 30 from 33 balls, while Klos bagged 2/14 in 4 overs and Cavin K Wanniang 2/18 in 3.4 overs. Klos was named Player of the Match.
In the second game, only 11.3 overs in the first innings were possible, forcing the match to be abandoned when the rains came.
